    Bank Robbery?. :P
Why wont your parents let you have a job. At 16, I'm sure you're old enough to make your own decisions on this matter. Thinks you can do now is surveys online and writing comments on comment share.

Decrease outgoings, increase income ... now think about what you could do under each of those headings = savings! x

£4 a day for lunch seems quite a lot to me. What do you buy? Do you have to have a cooked meal? If not, and your parents were happy for you to make yourself a packed lunch, you could save a bit there.

Only spend £1 per day on your lunch, you'll save £1 per day doing that.

To be honest just telling us you get £2 per day for lunch is not giving us much to work with.

Then again, dmg24 managed to give the perfect answer, so maybe it's just me!

    Hi ..

I know you said that your parents won't let you get a job but would they not let you put some leaflets through your neighbours doors offering to do some gardening , car washing , that kind of thing .... for very reasonable rates ???
My daughter does this is the holidays ..... and does quite well ....

Also if you have to buy lunch ... marks and spencers sell a yummy cheese and onion sarnie for 99p or Tescos sell some sarnies for 88P ( they may even have cheaper ones ) .....
Perhaps you could buy one and save the rest of the money ?

    What about pocket money?

As you're 16 I guess you will be leaving school very soon, are you planning to go on to further education?

Are your parents objecting to you getting a part time evening job or a Saturday job?

I think it's great that you actually want to get a job - that's something to be commended from someone of your age this day and age!

    Well done and good luck.

Not everyone's parents will let them get a job.
When I got my first job (working in a cafe in town) my Mother phoned them up and told them that as my mother SHE decided if I got a job or not NOT them! She then told them I wouldn't be working for them so they could stick their job (which I had gone begging for). I was absolutely mortified.

However, the £2 a day for lunch is good going. Lunch can be done quite nicely for that amount.
What you need is a lunch box and a drinks bottle. I would suggest a cool bag for your lunch box. My kids have metal bottles with a sports lid- very travel proof!
You'll want a piece of fruit (a bag of apples will last a week and cost 80p)
Rolls are around £2 for 24. Presumably you'll not want more than 2 a day.
Sandwich fillings can be very varied cheese etc.
I reckon you ought to manage lunches for a maximum of £3 per week when it's balanced.
I have to say it depends on your home life though and whether your parents will support you with packed lunches and allow you to use the fridge etc or will they just take the money away and still make you do packed lunches?

You then need to get the money invested in a high interest account with no minimum monthly payment maybe? Once the interest starts going in it will start mounting up slowly.
