Good luck with the job Chipps. No advice to offer, I'm afraid, retired this year as I couldn't handle it all!

Frogga, what a great little frog you turned out to be, glad to see that you have raised your tadpoles to be useful too!

Usually in bed at about 11pm then up again at 4am. I hate too much sleep as it makes me feel groggy and am happy to get no more than about 5 or 6 hours ~ they say it's a sign of high intelligence, WELL OBVIOUSLY!!

    Frogga,

I'm exhausted just reading this post! Do you *EVER* get tired and need to lie in?

I'm one of those who needs at least 7 hours ever night if I'm to be barely human.....

  • I work full time (normally 8am-4pm) and I'm quite old style. Its just me & DS in my house and the key for me is organisation & time management. Plus my endless lists for everything!!

It can be done as the others have said.

Best of luck with the new job.

I do occationally lie in on a Sunday until about 6am , but I get easily bored and I don't like sitting still ,then I get irritable so I have to get up and get on with things!;)

Mr Frog works very long hours and every Saturday , and on a Sunday he does all the "Dads" jobs and the garden et.c so he really does his bit. Tadpole No.1 asked me why I am so fanatic about the house and I think it's because coming from a broken home ( ) my home now means SO much and I like it to be as "perfect" as It can , IYKWIM. I'm very anal and a complete control freek! But I don't care!:rotfl:

Thank you for that insight about the broken home Frogga (and hugs!)

But, I shall shamelessly use it to my advantage. I will from now on say it's the fact I *didn't* come from a broken home that makes me lazy, slovenly, selfish and the world's worst housekeeper! :rotfl:

But, I do wonder if the fact I lived my first 20 years - until I left home on my (first!) wedding day - in a cozy, rosy family unit where Mum and Dad just loved each other to bits eternally and we were the archetypal Happy Family is a big disadvantage.

My sister and I have talked about this several times. Because our Dad and our brothers were so good, stable, reasonable and rational, we didn't realise men could be anything else.....but we learnt big time once in the big outside world on our own.

But I'm fast digressing off topic.

I take my hat off to you Frogga :A and just hope that even a tiny half hour of your energy can multiply itself and come my way

  • You exhaust me too frogga. Chips I work, officially 4 days 32 hours but there has only been 3 weeks this year (on holidays) when I have not worked an extra day, I need the overtime money.
My standards ar not as high as many I am sure. But I find the best way for me is to do things on the way to do other things. ie if I go for a wash, I clean the basin and shower and toilet while I am in there. Keep the star drops in the bathroom.
I start work at 5.30 so do nothing before work, except drink tea and collect my sandwiches from the fridge and make a flask of coffee for work.
I plan meal 2 days in advance. Though my plans often fail. For instance tonight DD e mailed me to say she was staying at her friends for tea, but on the other hand DS brought one home with him. So it worked out ok.
Anyway I get in from work about 2.30. Go straight to feed the rabbit, empty the bin. Then empty and refill the dishwasher. Then load the washing machine. If the weather is ok I put it on the line, if not on the airing horse.
Then I do some prep for tea. Tidy up the rest of the kitchen and sitting room, which my little tadpoles have trashed finding what they need for school.
While tea is cooking I usually make the packed lunches. Then load the dishwasher again and set it off.
At the moment I have been very busy as I am dancing in a show for charity fri and sat night and have had loads of extra reherals to go to, and all the costumes to make for myself my DD and 3 of her friends. So have had even less time and less sleep than usual.
Well I have to go to the last rehersal now.
Everything is done that's going to be done.
I am having fri off to make the rest of the kids costumes. Then will have a good clean up on sunday. Do the ironing , clean the rabbit hutch etc.
Dont do much cooking and baking except on my days off. I do sling a loaf in the BM every couple of days, and have to admit tonight's tea was a frozen chicken pie mash and peas, and quorn escalopes for the veggie. Hope to do better on Sunday.

Thanks for all the replies so far!

Frogga - I take my hat off to you! But I can't manage to get up at that hour!!!!

However, I know that I am going to have to get myself organised. DH and I are off to France tomorrow (shopping trip) and a funeral (in Portsmouth) Friday, which means I have Saturday to get the menu planning etc done.

I think because I have been so used to having plenty of time to do things it is going to be a bit of a culture shock! I didn't have lots of notice to think about it either, as I only decided the other day to call into an employment agency just to see whether I was even employable, after so many years out of the office environment! (last time I worked full-time, offices had manual typewriters in!!!) This job is as a temp, but is until March next year, so quite a long contract.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Soapie, I bet that's true! I really appriciate what I've got because I know how different it can be!

Just thougth I'd let you all know, I'm up and started the day already and if any of you think it's a bonkers idea, this is the BEST time of the day :T . The washing is on, the veg is peeled and in the pot ready for tea, packed lunches ready, just whizzed round the front room with a duster , and now going to do the ironing:D Mr Frog off to Pompy today and it's FREEZING:eek:

I don't recomend anyone follows anything I do as I realise I'm a total Fruit Loop and it isn't very "healthy" trying to live up to my impossibly high standards. Also, I forgot to say, I only work Term time as the Tadpoles are only 10 and 11 so I get alot of easier weeks where things aren't so rushed.

Have a good day all xxx
