Not something I'd noticed before but the other posts from amazon you'd made today contain it as well. The link works fine without the subscriptionid part - http://www.amazon.co.uk/o/ASIN/B000PKI9DU/202-4112874-5495026 so I was assuming it was a referral-type link to earn someone commission on any sales via the link.

Subscription ID's are just linked to cache, he's simply just copied the exact link on the page he was on when he saw the deal, it isn't anything to do with a referral.
