    Hi all,

This seems to be a very good deal. I am looking to buy a new Dyson and this one is the cheapest that I have seen for a while.

Is shopping at Amazon, for electrical goodies, a good idea? What consumer rights do you get?

I've got one of these and they're very good on carpets.

Only problem is, they're a little too heavy. This means my missus won't use it, so I end up having to use it !

On amazon.co.uk, you get the same rights as any other UK mailorder company. I've bought electrical goods from them before - on the odd occasion there was a problem, they've been very good.
  • Had one delivered yesterday to replace old DC04. Very good for the money, coupled with the 5 year guarantee.

Our DC07 lost its suction, and we were all ready to buy a new one (which I suppose tells you something about how good it is) but "discovered" their repair service. For a fixed fee - currently £65 - they will come out and do a full service, parts included.
(Compare that with the price I was quoted for a new hose on the same machine by a local service engineer - £50.)
After fixing the machine (new motor, new brush bar, some other bits) the engineer told me that because there was a problem with the thermal sensor, the repair was free - even on a machine well out of warranty.
I had a look around on the web afterwards and it is not unusual for them to waive the service charge.
So, half of the machine replaced, perfect working order, no charge, and still going strong two years later. I guess you would call that money saving!

baked_beans_lady thats exactly what I had with mine and the replacement was all free. Mind kept cutting out. First they sent me one of those internal filter things that fits in the clear plastic dust collector. Problem not sorted came ou said most I could pay was 360 something pounds, the issue was resolved and all free new motor and some other parts

I wasn't hesitate to get another mines been going for 5+ years now since new

supposedly one in three households has a dyson in the uk.

I want that ball one- I don't even need a hoover in my flat, I only have one carpeted floor, the rest i can sweep, but it just looks so swish.

My parents have the animal one though and it's suction is great.
