Moving house - redemption penalties?

Planning to move house shortly with just under 2 years of a 5 year fix with the Halifax left. Redemption penalty is currently £1600 if mortgage paid off now.
If we stayed with the Halifax (don't really want to but...) and increased the mortgage are they likely to waive the redemption penalty?

If you stay with the Halifax mortgage and release some equity you will not have the penalties to pay. The new increased amount would be on a new rate as of what they will offer you todayI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
