Double Tesco Clubcard Points... Plymouth

Today when i got my petrol from the newly refurbished petrol station in Transit Way Plymouth, I got double clubcard points. There was no sign saying this or anything so it must be being kept quiet.

I use our local Tesco Express and i was told that i couldn't use my club card for petrol. Is that just for the Express shops then and can i use my clubcard at the larger supermarkets?

The transit way tesco is a superstore but you should be able to collect clubcard points at any tesco stores and petrol stations. You can even get points through online shopping.

Tesco don't explain the petrol station thing very well. What it is....

If you visit a Tesco Metro/Express with a petrol station, check there is no ther petrol company sign outside (esso for example). If there is, its likely you wont get clubcard points. This is because the petrol station is effectively owned by another company than tesco.

Hope I'm making sense with this.

Tesco Express with petrol stations are managed by Esso Oil, and not Tesco. It was the same with the Safeway/BP partnership a few years ago. You couldn't collect Safeway ABC points there, but you could Nectar points, which you'd associate with Sainsbury's.

You CAN collect Clubcard points on shopping at the Tesco Express stores, as long as you go to a Tesco-branded till and not one operated by Esso.

Our local Tesco (Prestwich, Manchester) have also got double clubcard points on Petrol, but only if you use the new-style of clubcard, and not the older style.

Tesco are sending out new clubcards at the moment, and it may take a little time for you to get yours. They have over 5m to reissue!

There is a sign - its on the barrier between the car park and the petrol station!!!!

Oh sugar. Was going to go there last nite but went to Azders (if you know plymouth you'll get the joke! I am married to a Janner) instead. Tried to go there last week and despite the newspaper adverts it was closed.
