what happens at a church blessing?

My daughter & her partner live abroad and are getting married soon. They are returning here next year for about a month and would like a church blessing with a recepion afterwards. I really dont know what happens at a blessing. Would she be able to wear a wedding dress and have bridesmaids and best man, walk down the ailse with her father, have hymns, wedding cars , confettii etc. I have never attended a blessing & dont know anyone who has had one. I have searched through different sites on here but cant find any relevent information. I would be so grateful if anyone can answer my questions. Thankyou.

Yes, AFAIK it can be exactly like the wedding service.

I think it is up to the couple what they have.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

    Hi xqbgal,

We had one a little while ago and while we didn't go as far as we would have done had we been able to afford it, we did have all that really mattered to us.

Hymns and walking down the aisle with her Dad, are definates, bridesmaids, best man and wedding cars too no doubt and she will certainly be able to wear a Wedding dress. If you've got a good Vicar then I doubt there's much he/she'd refuse anyway, but some draw the line at confetti because of the mess it leaves, but he/she would tell you that when you seem him/her. Try asking him/her yourself to see what the response is as usually the most important thing to them is the fact that a couple wish to have a Blessing.

All the best and if it can all go ahead, have a wonderful time. I wish them both well.

Probably would be best to talk to the vicar / priest / pastor of the church you have in mind and see what sort of service they offer.
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Have a look here - if it helps, it was pretty much like a 'normal' service except the rings were already on... Get to a couple of minutes in to see the service...
