Calm down, calm down. It is almost certainly just a simple mistake, not a deliberate fraud. These things happen. Let's not go throwing accusations around and demanding blood!

It will sort itself out if you follow the suggested procedure - there's no way it can't.

Thanks for all the replies. I've already contacted Dixons and sending me a copy of the April receipt. And I'll do what RhiannonB has suggested and contact Halifax.

This happened to me earlier this year. I used a Co-op Visa Delta debit card to purchase a 3-piece suite and the shop charged me twice within a few days. Not being sure what to do first, I rang the shop who insisted they'd only charged me once and it was the bank's fault, so I rang the bank, who said it could only be the shop's fault, but they'd follow their usual procedure and file a dispute for me, which would ensure I'd get my money back and pay only once. Within 7 days, I received a full refund from my bank. I was lucky enough to have the funds to withstand 2 payments at the time, so no bank charges were involved.

The moral of the story is .... it's the fault of the shop where you bought your goods, but it's up to your bank to return the over-charge to you (though it could take a couple of weeks).

    Best of luck!

Was just about to ring up Halifax and get them to sort it out for me. But the little rant I had at Dixons has seemed to work, I got a refund this morning. Just a small matter of getting the cost of the call back and I'm not settling for gift vouchers. (how am i supposed to pay a phone bill with gift vouchers?!)

Nearly forgot to say, thanks for all the support.
