9am tommorow - more Cheap Flights to Oz as a result of the Ashes

Also posted on the travel board.

Return flights to Sydney look to be £348 including taxes at most (less if Flintoff scores more runs). If you missed out on the BA deal, this might be what you're looking for:

AMAZING 'FREDDIE' FARE TO SYDNEY
To celebrate the huge public interest in the current Ashes series between England and Australia, Virgin Atlantic is offering a 'once in a lifetime' sale fare to Sydney, Australia based on the performance of England's hero Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff.

This incredible sale fare is based on the total number of runs scored by Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff in the 2005 Ashes series. His score will form the discount given on Virgin Atlantic's current Economy round trip fare to Sydney, Australia of £611 per person (for travel between 16 April and 30 June 2006) plus tax, (currently £131 per person*).

After Freddie Flintoff's storming score of 72 in England's first innings in the fifth Ashes test, currently 394 passengers will be able to get a £394 discount off the Economy round trip fare to Sydney (excluding passenger taxes, fees, charges and surcharges).

A greater discount to a larger number of people is still possible if Freddie bats again and puts the Aussies to the sword!

HOW TO BOOK

The final astounding fare will be determined at the end of the current Ashes series and will be available to book on the number specified below, from 9.00am on Tuesday 13 September 2005, on a first come, first served basis. The sale fare will only be available to the same number of passengers as Freddie’s score.

Make sure you are one of the lucky few by calling 0871 230 1520 from 9:00am on Tuesday 13 September 2005. But hurry - the phone lines will close at 10:00pm on Thursday 15 September 2005. See below for full Terms & Conditions.

You will not be able to book this fare by calling Virgin Atlantic on the standard Reservations number (or any other number other than 0871 230 1520).

*The passenger shall pay all passenger taxes, fees, charges and surcharges, which are currently £131 per person (subject to change), regardless of the price of the Sale Fare.

Oh well, could have been more. But £340 rtn for 402 tickets for Sydney is better than £742 !!
  • Just got 4 tickets including 2 nights stop over in Hong Kong for £357.60 each!! Woo Hoo!! Thanks stratford!! :j
  • Many, many thanks!

I got 2 tickets for £352 each, including HK stopover. And my work colleague has got his for £327.50 each. He was told there are 74 tickets left, so keep trying!

I went in April this year and the weather was mixed in Sydney - temperature was mid 20s but some days were quite overcast - did manage to get a few beach days in though. I then got very cheap flights up to the Barrier Reef in the Jetstar sale and the weather up there was great.

Hope everyone has a fab time! :T

Just back in from opening our 8% Cheshire B S savings accounts, thanks to another poster alerting us to that, & now got the confirmation; was v pleasantly surprised to see they had come out at £327.50 each.

Wouldn't have known about it if it weren't for Stratford, so very many thanks!
  • Looks like it's all over. Thanks to all of you for the thanks. It wasn't well publicised (compared to the BA offer) and that's partly why it was available for a few hours. I spent a few weeks in OZ last year so didn't take up this offer, but I'm pleased that others are benefitting. Have a great time!

Got through at 09:18, bought two tickets April 30th -May 13th at a cost of £339 ea.

Don't need a stop over in HK as we did that earlier in the year thanks to the BA c*ck up:D
  • Added bonus:

My colleague also got tickets after I gave him the number. He's normally the world's most difficult person, but today is being especially nice and cannot do enough for me. Every time I turn round there's a cup of tea waiting, or if he hears that I'm looking for eg a telephone number, a piece of paper with it on miraculously appears in a nanosecond.

Fab. More offers like this please - makes my working life a lot easier! ;)

  • I got 2 to go for 2 weeks in May for £655 altogether. I'm taking my mom for her 60th so shes over the moon.
    Thanks to the original poster.
