Mackenzie Hall and credit searches

Wow Ive read loads on here about MH, what a bad bunch!

My problem is -

Until today whern I checked my equifax credit file I had never heard of them (no letters or phone calls), yet i find they are carrying out bi-monthly credit searches on my current address and my former address ( for 2 years!!).

I called them up and surprisingly they were not rude and bullyish, I explained what Id found and I asked them if I owed them a debt. The bloke Mr Bennett did a few searches and said he could not find any trace of me at all and he didnt know why I was being searched.

I asked them to remove me and stop searching my credit file, he said they wouldnt be able to do that.

So I called equifax up and told them the story, and all they can do is removed the searches.

But this isnt going to stop the sods from bi monthly searching me is it. How damaging is it?

What the hell do I do?

TIA x

I got this from the equifax website .. doesn't really help your issue with MH though

A search is the process Lenders undertake when they receive a credit application. A search enables Lenders to view information at your address/es in order to decide whether or not to grant credit.
Searches show Credit Lenders that you have made applications for Credit or Services. Credit Searches would not normally be viewed as adverse information. If however there were an unusually large number of Credit Searches, this may be interpreted by a Credit Lender as being indicative of over-commitment or maybe even fraud. Not all searches are for lending purposes

Hi thanks yeah I also read that.

Thing is, I havent made any applications at all, theres no point I know I wouldnt get anything.

But it says they are searching as 'outstanding debt' but I dont have any debts with them.

Plus theres about 40 searches been done in the past 2 years.

If they are searches that were not made due to an application for credit, then it's possible that they are the kind that only show up to you and the person making the search.

    From Experian:
    What is an unrecorded enquiry?

An unrecorded enquiry is a search that was not made for lending purposes. It cannot affect your credit rating or score when you apply for credit. It is not seen by lenders other than the one that carried out the search. It is included on your credit report so you know the search was made.

Oh right thanks, do you think I should be less concerned then?

Mind you its a bit effing cheeky that they are doing this for no reason.
