Free book+mag with today's Times

Hello, I got the Times from WH Smith today, with Isabel Allende's book for free,and, Reveal, all for 60p - the cost of the paper!
A pound off any magazine if you buy the Times only at WH Smith (magazine value should be one pound minimum), and, a free book every Monday with the Times.

hi i had problems today getting the times and a £1 off magazine, chose NOW magazine at £1 and was told i couldn't have it as they knew nothing of the offer!!!!so i stood my ground and argued with the floor manager / and cashier who treated me like i was something that they stepped in...........eventually the store manager came down and said i was quite correct with the pound off offer and eventually got the 2 for 60p, however still came out of the shop feeling embarrassed, anyone else had any problems?

Our W.H. Smith has notices up re the £1 off a magazine with Times so no problems. I understand it is only in 'High Street' branches of the store - was the store you were in an 'out-of-town' branch?
If not, an email to their Customer Service should rattle someone's cage! Even if you finally got the offer they should not have made you feel embarrassed asking for such a well promoted discount.

This happened to me too - on Saturday - so I wondered if perhaps the offer isn't valid on weekends or something like that. I didn't even notice that I hadn't had a discount until I got home and noticed the receipt while cleaning out my purse! My WH Smith isn't an out of townie either, just a regular High St branch.

Free book again this week in WH Smiths with the Times (The Opposite of Fate by Amy Tan, a sort of autobiography) -

and next Thursday (The Devil Wears Prada is next weeks book - novel set in the fashion industry), and one the week after that, and one the week after that.

Not bad for 60p especially when combined with £1 off any magazine (over £1).

I tried to get the £1 off Now magazine with The Times last week and was treated as if I was a complete idiot by the two ladies at the checkouts. I wrote an email of complaint about their treatment and have been contacted by a very helpful customer services lady who has contacted the stores manager and given him the notes and descriptions of the two ladies. She couldn't appologies more and is sending me vouchers as an apology.

If you get treated like this by WHSmiths staff when you know that you are right complain then perhaps smiths will make sure all their staff know about their own offers and wont be so rude to customers!
