Self-certification dried up?

Any brokers around and if so can they give a brief overview of what's happening with regard to self-cert mortgages?

There are a few deals around but rates are either not competative or high arrangment fees.

If you need to self cert it will be expensive.

Self-cert has always been more expensive.

Are people saying that it is now exorbitantly so?

I'd put "over 6%" and "percentage of loan as an arrangement fee" into the exhorbitant category myself.

A terrible time to be self certing if you ask me.

Well most self cert lenders have either gone back to the US with the yanks or the UK lenders that self cert have got a little spooked and reduced loan to values and increased rates. HArdly any lenders left to self cert with but they are out there at a premium.
