Anyone help with pension advice?

I wonder if anyone can help with advice for my friend in America.
She has recently split up from her husband and plans to come back to UK next year.
She is 61 and has a small uk pension of £27 paid in USA from her own contributions. She wonders if she can claim more on her exhusband's contributions????[her previous husband]
Also as she is thinking of coming home she would now like her pension paid into a uk bank account[which she doesn't have}.Can she open a bank account in uk from usa?? Or can I open a bank account in joint names with her and get it paid in there?
Hope someone can help I know you are full of useful advice out there.

    ** Providing her ex-huband has a British pension **

She should be able to claim an increase using the substition of her ex-husbands record, I dont know how thi sincrease will be handled wiith her living abroad. I used to calculate pensions for divorcees but only those living in the UK and had not yet receached SPA.

Contact Pension Service overseas on +44 191 218 7777, she can discuss payments and any increase with them.

Is the ex husband American or British? is the pension in the UK or the US?

If she is coming back to the UK, she would probably be best waiting to do the bank then. Money laundering verification would be difficult without her being here.

Her ex husband is British. The one she has just separated from is American.
It is a uk pension from her years of working here paid into an american bank account
Can she pay her pension into my bank account?

** If her last marriage was to an American**

British law always looks at the last marriage regardless of where it took place.

If she had remarried she will loose right to claim off her british husbands record, as long as a marriage was legal in its own country (ie America) , it supercedes any previous marriages for british state pension purposes and theirfore unless he had a british pension she cannot claim.
