Company reporting my company's data to CRA's as if its mine

Hi,

a limited company of which i am a director has 3 leasing agreements with a finance company for office equipment, printers etc

i obtained a copy of all 3 credit reference files and was appalled to find that the leasing company is reporting to the credit reference agencies the performance of the company in keeping up repayments as if they are my own. i.e. the company's lease agreements show up on my credit files as if i had taken out these agreements!!!!

i contacted the agencies and was told that because i had signed a personal guarantee they were perfectly entitled to do so.

is this the case?????

i have written to the leasing company requesting copies of the agreements that gave my permission for this and i have made a complaint to the information commissioner.

regards

leighton

I guess if you signed a personal guarantee then you have a responsibility to honour the agreements and that responsibility must be taken into account by other lenders.

i think you will find that it is standard practice.... the company i work for, leases out thousands of peices of equipment every year, we have a direct connection to the credit reference agencies and send info to them as well when a new lease is signed......
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

    hi

    thanks for the replies!

i'm sure it is standard practice, but is it legal? if i did not expressly consent to it then surely not.

    regards
