Hi all...hope you can give me some advice...
I recieved a Statutory Demand this morning from 1st Credit. It arrived in the post sent through UKMail.
It has a name of a contact to whom all communication regarding this demand may be addressed to. (Its a chap whose address is for Connaught Collections)
I attempted to call this chap (I did not want to give me details to the call centre) and they refused to put me through....
Where do I stand with this.....I have made no contact with this company although they have been sending me letters for years.
I have no idea what the debt is for....

Hi
have a look here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=755939&highlight=statuatory+demand
A number of DCAs use this as a scare tactic but legally it is a more issue.
So you need to ring NDL and check the legal status of this document. See http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan#help
If it is watertight, you need to get it set aside and you only have a short period in which to do that.
If it is a scare tactic, then you need to report them to the OFT, trading Standards etc.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
