Moorcroft & data protection

Hi guys, can someone give me the benefit of their knowledge please.....

Last night I was 'phoned by Moorcroft (Debt agency) chasing a payment that I'd paid a day late. Thing is they phoned me on a mobile belonging to a person we share a house with. I have never given Moorcroft this number, they have mine. Because of this call not only did my house mate know I had a call from them, but the only way they could have known her number I supposed was if she was with them too. And this is what it turned out to be. When we talked about it, she admitted she had an account with them too for a debt. So, basically I am assuming they have shared infomration for our address. But the worry is a) that their action caused a forced sharing of information and b) why did they mix our accounts? And how?

Can I complain because this has made things a bit awkward for both her and myself.

Thank you
