I have been looking for TVs for a while and this is the cheapest 42 inch LCD which is full High Definition. This means it displays 1080 lines instead of the HD ready tvs that display 720. For more details ...

Do you make things happen, watch things happen, or just wonder, what happened?

EBuyer have a good habit of "pruning" the reviews on their site...Do you make things happen, watch things happen, or just wonder, what happened?0

Hi I bought a motherboard from ebuyer which had plenty reviews from people using dual core cpu's. After I ordered it ebuyer put a note on the item that it did not support dual core cpu.
I did get a refund but when I spoke to staff by telephone and mentioned the reviews they just laughed out loud! -pruning AND planting!
You must read independent reviews from a source that is not trying to sell the product.0 -
Good price but not the best in terms of spec. Good value but questionable brand. I'd check avforums or similar for info and recommendations.
It might be worth considering this one http://www.froogle.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=HITA-L42VP01 from Richer Sounds with is a better brand and has a much better contrast ratio for £599.950 -
We bought the Samsung 40'' full HD TV before Xmas for just under a grand but the contrast is 25000:1, top of the range at the time and pic is excellent much better than the ones with lower contrast and have all the features we wanted freeveiw etc.0

I went into Makro during the week to have a look at some LCD tv's as they have multiple walls full of them up and running.
I don't think two pictures were the same - even between the same makes.
With a panning image you could sort of see all the pixels - almost as though watching through a mesh.
I was very disappointed and will have to stick with my old CRT until it dies or the technology improves considerably.0 -
A bit naughty of ebuyer to prune, but I have to say that generally they are supposed to be one of the better companies to deal with.
I tried to buy a TV from them and gave up in the end. After accepting the web order I got a text message saying it was cancelled. On phoning them they demanded I fax over utility bills and a bank statement to buy anything from them. Very disappointing as the TV was a special gift for someone coming out of hospital, and I was on holiday at the time. Customer service were very unhelpful, and I will never use them again. I've never had any issues buying online since or after. Be warned.0 -
Have you thought about the Panasonic TX-32LZD80? Bit dearer, but was awarded 5 stars in what hi0fi (http://whathifi.com/television/archive/2008/03/12/exclusive-review-our-verdict-on-panasonic-s-full-hd-tx-32lzd80.aspx). Also loads of good reviews on line if you google the model number. The cheapest seems to be arouns £630 (Inc VAT & del), but i'm hoping to get it price matched with John Lewis as they also include free 5 year incurance with the tv's they sell! I'll let you know how i got on!November wins...a book, a designer handbag (worth £550 :T) and a game. I am now an addict and thank everyone for taking the time to share and post.0

You do realise there is no set standard of geting contrast ratios so manafactuers can fudge them to look good0
