I have just been offered a mortgage, and some of the conditions that i have to meet are a bit strange. For instance the lender wants a photocopy of my bank card, both sides. Now my question is, is this normal or just a bit dogdy?

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!0 -
Copy of your Bank card on the face of it is an unusual request however I am minded to think there could be a reason, for example your Passport was'nt clear.0

Why would they need a copy of the back of the card? This has information like the CVV which could be valuable to a fraudster. Is it the lender themselves that are requesting this, or are you going through a dodgy broker?poppy100

Im guessing this is Future mortgages asking for this??? They do it all the time....its for ID verification.0

I suspect that you cannot provide a Passport or Driving Licence for proof of ID so some lenders will accept either a Bank or Credit Card Statement with the Front and Back of the card as proof of Signature for proof of ID.
Make sure you keep details of the day you send it and who to, just in case it is used by some dodgy character in the future. You can then tell the card company of who you know has had access to the details on it. What they don't have though is the pin number for chip and pin machines.I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0
