DMP cancelled by payplan

Have just received an email from them saying that because we have no surplus to make payments they cannot help me in the current department and will be passing it onto the special advice team.

It also says they will be sending a self help pack out and it will help us make direct payment to creditors ourselves  .

I don't wanna do this on my own (well with OH as well). Its been going so well, with no hassle from creditors since being with payplan and how because OH is unemployed and we cannot make payments to payplan where on our own again.

So worried about what will happen, whether creditors will send us BR, if we'll loose the house and how to deal with creditors if they get angry again and start putting charges back on........arghhhhh

Can you adjust your budget so you do have surplus? Do you in reality have a surplus to pay?

Its not as hard as it seems, their idea of surplus and mine is vastly different. According to CCCS we have no surplus income and should have gone bankrupt 2 years ago. In those 2 years over a third of our debt has been paid off and we are now better off than ever.
You just need to have faith, do a workable SOA for yourself.

2 years ago not long after my business closed we had no surplas and was basically told we needed at least £150 per month to go on a DMP. We had debts of 48K (56K when the %^^$^%s had finished) + 83K of mortgage 3K of which was arrears, going bankrupt was not an option we would consider because of having about 250K in disposeable equity. Things were desparate so we cut out non esentials and kept a log of spending. 3 months later and we offered £197.50 towards our DMP and was accepted. 22 years left to pay with no arrears (except an argument over Council Tax) and now 53k of debt. and if i've played it correctly I will not be paying towards 48K of the debt (ironic that 48K crops up twice).

Anyway if we can do it I am sure you can but you have to be honest with your self and cut out the things you think you need but don't really
    June 2005 = 48K of Debt:cry:
Sept 2006 Started dmp = 56k of Debt (inc fees and charges) DFD April 2030:eek:
May 2008 = <5k of Debt (CCA route -48K, paid off 3K) DFD April 2010
Nov 2008 Lloyds found CCA for 14K loan:mad: New DFD Jan 2016

Happy so far tomorrows another day:confused:

    Can you post your SOA?

There are so many knowledgable people on here with experience of Debt Management Plans, they may be able to help you identify a surplus.

Royal mail will be taking on casuals to cover summer leave now. Could your OH do that? It is better than minimum wage and might put you back into surplus again.

Failing that will getting ANY job put you back into a surplus even if it is a small one? If so then job centre tomorrow is your OH job for the day. I agree it would be a shame for it to fail at this point.

As others have said perhaps really paring your outgoings to the bone can free up some money

    best of luck

How long were you with Payplan for? Creditors will know from your DMP that you are dedicated to making the payments and sorting the debts out - that's much more favourable for them than you going bankrupt in most cases.

Post up an SOA and we'll help you do it yourself, there's lots of us on the DMP Support Thread going solo :)

Thanks for all the replies, i didn't think anyone was going to answer for a sec and is why i took my time coming back here to check.

From the responses it looks like most aren't aware of the background. Basically this mth (22nd April - 22nd May as this is my pay day, so this is a mth for us) we were £70 short on just the bills, so had no money left over for food/petrol, so OH's parents kindly gave us enough money, not a lot, just enough to cover those 3 things, so things have been tight already. Ie no going out, im not joining in on a staff night out, no clothes shopping, you know the drill.

Ok, rest of the q's answered:

    * Been making payments to creditors since Aug 07, but this is for 3mths on our own, then had 3 mths with payplan acting for us, then OH made unemployed 4th Feb. Made token payments in Feb, March, couldn't afford April.

    * Really dont' see an SOA as being of any use and its literally just bills, food, petrol, do not have the money for even just that, like mentioned above, so i know im not over spending on other things as i just dont have the cash.

    * Any extra money is better than none, but unfortunately not just any job will do, not to have the surplus we need to pay like we were paying before. But OH could def do the royal mail summer thingy mentioned. I myself work in a school and am currently applying for a summer play worker job.

The post office job sounds promising Continual, he should apply for that. Even if it's only temporary, it will be extra money.
What job does he normally do?
Does he not get any benefits like Income Support.
If he has paid his national insurance up to date, wouldn't he get at least £60 a week on that?

Last year I claimed and my husband works, and I got the weekly amount.

Hope all works out for you
