Notice to newcomers re trolls.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

Morning...what do you do if someone is acting/posting suspiciously......?

We need a proper troll-hunters field guide thingy....

This one has joined in April and done 2 really small innocuous posts and then the 3rd post is rather advanced for a newbie.....

I think it's just me being a bit jaded and seeing trolls everywhere...there were even some in Tescos last night...;)

Linda's guide to troll hunting

Hi Bismarck.
1, click onto their name and view all posts made by that person, it's usually pretty obvious if they are a troll
2, once you are satisfied they are a troll report them by clicking the red triangle button on one of their posts (this is best done several times by multiple troll hunters to ensure swift action is taken!)
3, post name of idiot on troll board so other troll hunters are aware and can help you with steps 2 & 4
4, view other DFW posts and follow idiot round advising newbies to ignore the troll and state that they have been reported.
5, Wait for MSE board guides to remove posting priviledges and get !!!!!! off the boards
6, Once troll's posts have been removed and If you have responded on any of the threads go back and delete any of your own that newbies may then think are directed at them (click on edit button then delete post)
7, rejoice!

Yep, it posted on many threads on his board, I was following it round like a lunatic trying to warn newbies on as many threads as I could
We got rid of it pretty damn quick yesterday!
This thread was a DAMNED good idea Pania and just proves that it works and should be made a sticky.!
What the idiot didn't realise is that DFWers are far too astute to fall for that!
WARNING- I wouldn't be surprised if they come back to pretend to be others

If anyone identifies a troll they should post the trolls username on this thread asap so my system above can be followed by all troll hunters, it worked a treat yesterday.
