    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

confused-smiley-017.gif It puzzles me when 'old timers' leave because of trolls or spammers. Surely they have much more experience of these 'weasels', than many of us.

Is it because they have been targetted as a victim and it makes them feel uncomfortable and violated? Does it get so personal as to get under their skin?

Or, do you think they have just got tired of the forum?

Also - flame me if you like, but Pania I really do think this thread would be better off refreshed, as per your suggestion xx pages ago. There are far too many posts for a newbie to wade through and I think a new start is in order.

Nomad people will leave this forum when they have had enough and need an "excuse" to leave
i know that this going to sound bad and its not meant to
I think expiernced users who go need to have a reason or excuse to leave the forum something that they can look at and say that is my way out to rejoin the real world, they will have given more to other people than they took
    hope that makes sence

Yes, I understand what you're saying Numpty and TBH that's what I thought too. It is a shame though to lose these people as they are very generous with their time and help. However, we all know how addictive MSE can be. Let's just hope they return in due course.

Thanks P - hope you didn't mind me coming back to that subject.
Guess we'll have to prise you off - one finger nail at a time! :p
