Does anyone know how reliable this machine is? I'm thinking about getting one on Ebay, but the seller doesn't have the receipt or guarantee. I can pick it up from their house and give them cash on collection, and obviously I can get them to plug it in and make sure it works before I take it away...but after that I'd be on my own. Does anyone have any experience of these things breaking down? I just wonder how risky Ebay would be...any advice anyone?

I dunno much about this (don't have a ps3) but maybe you should look at:

btw how much do you expect to pay for one on ebay? from what i've seen the price new (from retailers) isn't that much higher than most on the auction site.

Well, I don't know how much it will be at the end of the auction (which ends tomorrow), but I suppose if I can get it for about £170- £200 it'd probably be worth it? Not much chance of that though I shouldn't think.

Have just phoned that company you gave me the link to, and I can take out insurance cover (even on a second hand one) which will cost £4.99 a month, and they will replace it if it breaks down.

    Many thanks for your advice.

I bought a PS3 from Game about 5 months ago and it broke down a few days ago after trying to load GTA4. The blu ray drive stopped working and wouldn't load anything. I took it in to Game today and they exchanged it there and then. Apparently they will do so for 12 months. Really pleased.

However after this experience i am wanting to extend my warranty which I refused when i first bought the PS3 from Game (they offered it to me). Is it possible for me to get my PS3 warranty extended now from Game\Sony or somewhere? The guy who served me at Game said he didn't think they could offer me extended warranty as I didn't accept it when i first bought it but he wasn't sure.

the one I ordered was from PLAY and was new but the price since I ordered has been changed. I took screenshots of it when I placed my order and I have an email confirmation of the price but they have not dispatched it yet and I am sure they will realise the error at that point and cancel my order :(

I ordered one of these, and I think its brand new. Didn't think they would send it, but its with Parcel Force now, and at the price I paid £218, well pleased. I only really want it for the Blue Ray, the boy likes his 360 enough hopefully :)
