Jewellers in North East (Engagement)

Looking for any help on finding any good jewellers in or around the North East... (Live in Newcastle)
I am looking to buy an engagement ring in the next few weeks, have read all about the jewellery quarter in Birmingham but don't have time to go there. (or an excuse too).
I dont want to buy from a High St jeweller as their prices are extortionate.
Budget of around1000-1500...
Many Thanks!

Try the jewellers guild in newcastle and I think they have another two shops in the north east if you look on their website. We found them really helpful and walked us through designing our ring for the price we wanted. Was very impressed. Hope it helps.'The supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of it alive'0

Designing a ring costs surprisingly little. I couldn't find anything I liked in the shops for my wedding ring so I approached a local designer being prepared to pay a little more. What I got was a ring made in Palladium (similar properties to Platinum but cheaper, much hardier than white gold) with two small diamonds for £160 to my own design. The actual cost of the raw materials was £110 and he charged £50 for making it. I was delighted with the results, I love having something that no-one else has.
It shows how shocking the mark up is in the high street. I showed my engagement ring to the designer and he said the actual white gold and diamond in it would cost about £150 - my husband paid £600 from Ernest Jones! Needless to say he wishes he had asked the designer to make it...
Hope it goes well!Self employed and loving it

Well, I bought one at a shop called berrys opposite the monument. I ended up taking her best friend with me to pick so I knew i'd get something she would like! i did look in the jewellers guild, and it seemed quite a bit more expensive for the same rings.
went slightly over budget anyway at 2.2k but i think it was worth it!
just got to ask her now!
many thanks!0
