MBNA now texting me

I've just started a DMP, and have told MBNA in writing that I'm dealing with Payplan. I also wrote to MBNA separately to ask them not to contact me by phone any more. I haven't heard anything from by post them since apart from a letter telling me they are "dealing with my complaint" which is odd as my letter wasn't a complaint! But now, instead of phoning my mobile they have started texting me along the lines of "Hi, please phone xxxx today, it's important we speak to you today".

Having been asked to contact me in writing, are they taking texts to be writing and getting round it that way? Is this allowed? It's annoying but I'm not sure whether texting counts as contact by phone or in writing!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.

Also if you can change your number there are loads of free sim cards around.
You should also inform payplan that you are getting harrasing texts.

  • My partner had loads of trouble with MBNA harrassing him on the phone & he wrote to ask them to contact him only in writing. They called him to say that because they're a telephone banking service, they don't write to people!!! Biggest nonsense I've heard in a long time. With his dealings with MBNA, they really don't know their bottoms from their elbows & half the mail never gets to the right departments. My sympathies to you. I would write & threaten to report them for harrassment, we ended up doing that & ever since, they only write now... also told them our number was registered with TPS (telephone preferencing service).

    Troll (multi_millions reported)

As he has breached the terms and conditions of membership of this site by his posting abusive remarks, i am hopeful that the Mods will be able to contact his ISP for further action to be taken. Should individuals wish to bring a case of defimation having been attacked by this individual (and get some of his supposed millions), I should think the ISP will provide solicitors with the necessary details.

tishywish - i wouldn't bother responding to a text message.

What a poor sad little troll MM must be, with nothing better to do :D

Thanks for the advice, everyone else. I haven't phoned them back so will carry on deleting their texts :) I also got the comment from them that they are a telephone banking service so will carry on phoning me - but even so the calls have stopped. I will leave writing to them again for now to give them time for my latest letter to get through their system.
