ergent help please

i have a chice weather to opt in to a council pension but im only contracted to work for 6 months and dont o weather to pay into this and dont have any other pension

would it be better to save until i get a longer contract (not garranteed) or have a private pension

thanks for any help

    It certainly will do no harm to join - in fact you're quite lucky to be given the opportunity on such a short contract. You never know, it might be extended or you may return to work at a local authority later on.

    New LGPS Regs from 1st April 2008 mean that anyone with a contract of more than three months will be bought into the LGPS automatically. A refund of contributions can only be made if a member opts out of the scheme within three months.
