Help-advice needed

I feel sick as I've realised I've got no money left whatsoever for the rest of the month(actually until the 23rd) and have no money for petrol or supermarket shopping. I feel completely shaky and lost and don't know where to turn. I of course have the horrible CCs but really can't bear the thought of having to use them as I had been clawing my way out. Can see no other way forward-i could cry. Can anyone offer any advice. Had been doing well but seem to be struggling again.

Hi, I did a carboot sale on Sunday and am planning on another one. Thankfully my husband has offered to give me £150 to last me through so should be fine now. We have a slightly complicated financial situation-eg separate bank account but he now earns double what I do but still pay the same. I am a very stubborn person who likes to sort their own mess out but have had to climb down and admit that I needed help this month after paying for various outgoings for my son. My DH cant understand why I didn't mention i had lots of things to pay for this month to him but I always hope I can scrimp and save and manage. I am still going to do everything you have suggested though cos had to ask for money in desparation this month-don't want to make a habit of it!

Obviously I don't know your full situation, but your husband sounds like a reasonable man. I'm all for independence, but if this is going to happen regularly I think perhaps you need to talk. Things have gone up since this arrangement was first made (well they're going up all the time, aren't they  ). Could you get together and discuss the amount of contributions you each pay and get them a bit more proportional to your earnings? That way you wouldn't be having to "ask for money in desperation" and worrying every month.

Also, don't wish to be nosy, but you say "my son"; does this mean that he isn't your husband's too and you take full responsibility for his support?

    Hi beckseven

Good to see you're now sorted, but i need to agree with basketcase here. It isn't just you that cares for your son - either emotinally and should not be financially either.

It might be worthwhile keeping a spending diary so that you can see how much you are spending and on what, then checking that this meets what you budgeted for. If there are additional costs that come up they can't always be planned for but you should at least be able to see if you are going to have difficulties before the money actually runs out.

    Keep up the good work.

Thanks for everyone who replied. DS is our son-it does sound like he is just mine in my message! I think what happens is that it is normally me who is involved in the money spending bit for stuff for him such as new shoes and swimming lessons and then I don't want to ask my husband for any money (stupid pride again) and admit 'weakness' I guess. i was always on equal money to DH until our son arrived and then i was working part time with nursery bills and my DH career has gone really well so I guess it is hard for me to adjust to being dependent on someone. Now however I am terrified of being more in debt-I need to pull my socks up and watch every penny
