Refilling laser toners or buying none originals

I am fed up paying £50/£60 for a new toner for my laser printer. Anyone tried refilling? Or anyone tried the cheaper replacemnts (not original manufacturers ones) as I have seen some a lot cheaper on Euroffice where I buy other bits and pieces.

Refilling is the way forward:
- Cheaper than buying new units
- More environmentally friendly
- Quality is on par with originals
I should know as I do the same!"When you're right no one remembers. When you're wrong no one forgets." :rolleyes:0 -

I go to my local computer/printer shop - they offer that service there."When you're right no one remembers. When you're wrong no one forgets." :rolleyes:0

Refilling, easy peasy.
BUT ! If you spill any toner powder, DONT try and vacuum it up, the powder is finer than the filters in the vac machine and the poder goes EVERYWHERE !0 -
I have refilled my Samsung ML series printer several times over the last couple of years without any problems.
Just be careful handling the toner, wear gloves etc, and cover the table with newspaper !!!0 -

Not sure if you put that point quite strongly enough, laser toner is highly carcinogenic and to be handled with great caution, don't vac up spillages it will go straight into the air
Leave refilling to the pro'sclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
I heard through work that working in offices where toner based printer & copiers were used has health implications that have recently been discovered via an independent study. http://news.cnet.co.uk/printers/0,39029690,49291968,00.htm
I have no idea if its true or not.0 -

I guess it needs more investigation. I'd heard about this sort of thing years ago, at a time when it was sugested to keep printers in a well ventilated separate room at the office. For home / low usage I'd bet it's hardly an issue, but it could perhaps help to keep your printer in a cupboard, and try not to inhale from the air vents0 -
