Who is my complaint with ? endownment

I took out a mortgage with the Bank of Scotland in 1989.
At that time I was advised to take out an endownment mortgage, however they only dealt with Standard Life.
I have received notification that my policy will have a shortfall.
Having read the advice on complaining, I believe I have grounds to complain, however the issue is this...
Should I be directling my complaint to Standard Life or the Bank Of Scotland ???
Secondly, I no longer have my mortgage with the BOS will this be an issue. ???
Help..

The company that advised you is the one you place the complaint with.
Things to note are that a projected shortfall is not grounds for a complaint and you may not be able to complain if your endowment was sold prior to regulation so make sure that date is 1989 and not 1988I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Will depend on who is actually taking responsbility
ie were BoS (tied) agents of standard life - if so SL will deal with query
or if they were IFAs at that time- then BoS should deal with query.
Easy thing to do is call SL and askAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
