Company Secretary - Problem

How did the revenue track you down if you now live abroad?
Do you live in an EU country?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
I know this must have come out of the blue but there's a lot more to this or HMRC have got some seriously crossed wires...suspect you need an accountant and the relevant accounts rather than a lawyer.
When I suggested a lawyer it was because something similar was going through my mind - if the HMRC are chasing you for the debt even though you are abroad, does that mean that there isn't anyone in this country they could chase? Which would imply that the company has probably gone into liquidation - so my thinking was that you would need to find out what happened and what was agreed then.
Depending on what country you are living in, if you do want some advice if you go to a big enough firm of accountants/solicitors you might find that they have someone that can give advice for other juridisdictions. Probably expensive though, of course.0 -
Yep, fair enough - a lawyer is a fair shout...this is as murky as the bottom of my sports bag....not pleasant whoever you turn to...couldn't the OP check on the company details at Companies House...I know that for a small fee you can do an online check on company records and accounts...this could be a cheaper staring point. For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070

I own a house in the UK and have my mail forwarded to my overseas address which is how I got the letter.
I thought to be honest that the accountant had taken care of this and I paid him plenty.0 -
I'd get in contact with the accountant then, and ask him what on earth is going on? If you were paying him to sort out your tax issues, then he should have some answers!!!0

post reported.
Why?
Seemed genuine to me. I have had three HMRc demands in the past year for tax / fines that were not due just because they had failed to correctly process information alredy sent to them.
There is a chance that the OP may not be due HMRC anything at all.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0
