HELP!Someone please explain in english how I go about claiming tax relief if I am a higher rate tax payer? The financial advisor gave me a form, but I have also been told I need to do a self-assessment at tax year end. Finally, I have been told just to call the tax office! Can someone clarify? And what information will they need? Thanks from a grateful higher-rate tax paying novice..

If this is a personal pension you claim the extra tax relief via your tax return. If you don't already complete a tax return then a simple phone call to HMRC may be enough.
If it's a company pension where your contributions are taken from gross salary you already have full tax relief at source.0
