Debts Have Gone Down But Still Not So Good

We had £20K of debt, it is now reduced to £5k this week thanks to a bit of good fortune, however we are still bloody skint:mad:
Heres an example, Tax credits overpayment, we where paying £60 a month, I owe £2000 "Until they work out this years !!!! up" I paid £1000 and said to them right "I will make payments again in 16 months when that £1000 is all used up" "Oh no you can't do that, you have to continue paying" We will do a Income and expenditure. So I went through that that arrived at £400!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes £400 a month:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Did the same with my debt management plan with Payplan, I took of the creditors which I had cleared and just paid the other creditors, "Oh no you can't do that" We have to do a Income and expenditure, It has jumped for £70 a month to £200:mad::mad::mad:
I have really lost heart, I don't care less if it takes a shorter time to clear my debt, I have been in debt since I turned 18 and got that stupid credit card "I'm 28 now" and sick and tired of living in poverty, I'm sick of scrimping every week, this money was supposed to help us, while yes it reduced the debt we are still going to have to scrimp and save for the foreseable future and I want to live life. I may aswell have donated that money to charity for all the good its done us
Grrr any advice

I can't understand why you cannot repay £100 for 10 months for the Tax Credit overpayments (if you only have £1k left...) why do they need it back within 2.5 months? Also can you suggest a better repayment amount with Payplan? then that will give you an extra few pounds each month...I can understand where your coming being skint all the time I cleared a few debts at the start of the year and the extra £10+ a week can make all the differance. See what you can do to continue at a pace that good for you...but I wouldn't draw out the repayment process like the person above...work out a date to be DF and count down those days...it'll keep you focused and your morale up.

If it's any comfort, there are a lot of skint people out there..the number seems to be growing every day.For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070

HI nirelandguy. Keep your chin up mate, you will crack it,only 5k to go & that will go in no time. Most of us lose heart now & again & think what's the point, but if you start overspending you will hit a brick wall again sooner or later. Be strong & you will get there. Make sure you don't deprive yourself of having a life, but live within your means & your debt will soon go.
