Hi All
You may remember me getting very confused last week about reclaiming some tax.
Well i have just spoken to the tax office and they have said that I need to write to them regarding my 2 previous jobs (turns out my previous rubbish employer who made redundant before christmas, got 1 pay out of 6 right, and sent my P45 2 months after i left) didnt tell the tax office about me, so they have no record!
Just wondering if anyone has a template for a letter I can borrow? Im quite rubbish at explaining things!
Thanks
Amy

First of all, don't be afriad! Just write a letter giving your full name, address and National Insurance number. Then give a recent employment history covering the period you think you are due moeny back for - full name and address details of employer and dates of employment as near as possible help - and enclose any P45s/P60s for the period concerned as this can speed things up. At this time of year, when everyone is trying to get money back, allow up to 6 weeks to hear back.
Good luck.:rolleyes:Every penny's a prisoner

I would say enclose a copy of the p45's and your p60 rather than the origionals. Reason being things tend to go walk about in mail rooms and you should keep the top copy of p45's and your p60 for your own records.
On you p45's p60'sthere is anemployer referance number the tax office use to identify it.
Iwould do something like this:
To whom it may concern.
I am writing to you as advised during a telephone conversation with yourselves on xxxxx.
I began working for XYZ ltd on xxx (date) emp ref xxx/xxxxxxxx (from your p45) and ceased working forthem on xxxxx. I began working for abc ltd on xxxx emp ref xxx/xxxxxxx and ceased with them on xxxx. Ithen began working for def ltd on xxxx emp ref xxx/xxxxxxx and Iam still currently employed by this company.
Ihave enclosed copies of my p45's from both XYZ ltd and ABC ltd as well as a copy of my p60 from DEF ltd.
Can you please update your records and forward any rebate due to myself at your earliest convenience.
Yours
