Hi
Well Dads house chain fell through a couple of weeks back as FTB had mortgage offer withdrawn. Thing is he has had loads of interest in his but everyone has there own place to sell first. There really does seem a lack of FTB's. Is this because they are being more cautious/waiting for a bargain or the fact that there are no mortgages out there suitable? Or is it something else? Just trying to get a picture of what is really happening.
Thanks

FTBs have a real problem raising the deposit, people moving have got it slightly easier because either they are older and have had longer to save a deposit or they have benefitted from house price increases in the last few years which now acts as their deposit.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. For the small 2 bedroom flats i want, I need to save a 15% of about £36,000, never going to happen really. Taken me a year to save £10,000.
I am trying to exploit the marketing and offering 12-20% under the market value for new builds hoping one will accept the offer to get rid of the flat and use that discount to offset the amount needed for a deposit.0
