Of course 'Money Laundering' etc sprung to mind.

It's not money laundering ... pure fraud. They were after both the firearm and the £2050. The £2800 would have bounced - but they were hoping you would have released the firearm + £2050 by then?

If a BD clears (you could do a 'special presentation' of it if you're uncertain of your purchaser) ... then the funds are yours. If it's legit then the funds on which it was drawn belong to the Bank ... so the money is guaranteed. If it's stolen or fraudulent then it's not going to get past initial check with the alleged drawing Bank.

But in your circumstances - unusually - I would do a special presentation. For £12 or thereabouts your Bank sends it on to the Drawing bank by 1st class post. On receipt they have to say whether they will fund it or not .... and your Bank will pass that message on to you. If they affirm clearance ... there's no way they can retract.

    Cheers for the advice everyone.
I'm definately going for an electronic or cash payment.
I have had at least 2 possibly three of the above example. Either different characters or the same person under different emails.
These fraudsters are not at all subtle/imaginative in the right ways when it comes to spinning their yarns. It's blindingly obvious how dubious their proposals are.

    Thanks again.

They might seem blindingly obvious to us on here (true little money savers) but hundreds of people fall for this advance fee scam every week.
