Advice re transferring

Dear all I wonder if you can help.
When I first started with my employer they ran a Group Stakeholder Pension with Standard Life which I accumulated just over 3k. Then last year they changed their plan to a Group Flexible Retirement Plan again ran through Standard Life of which again I have around 3k at the mo'.
I received my statements through the other day and it said that I could transfer my Group Stakeholder into my Group Flexible Retirement but I should seek financial advice before doing this.
Can anyone advise whats best to do. I guess that it makes sense to tie them both in together as it seems silly to have the random 3k sitting in a different pension but I have no real idea re pensions so wondered if anyone could give me some general advise.
Any thoughts/ideas appreciated.

if it costs nothing and the newer pension is cheaper/same and has better investment options then it makes sense to merge them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
