hello mate,
I made a list of all local take aways and restaurents. I called them up and left my details with all of them if they want a local delivery driver. 4 months later I got a call, and it was a fantastic job, easy no pressure delivery driver for local indian take away. Friendly people, free food and £40 per night and atleast £10-20 tips every night. £5-7 Petrol usage, and thats it.
I worked only 2 nights Friday & Saturday and in 6 months, i saved up £4000 from this job alone and paid off my loan. -;)
Hope it helps
good luck

DB, thats a great story.
How much weight did you put on in free food?? :rotfl:
Out of interest, do you have a partner? I worked at threshers in the evening whilst saving up for a car.
The GF found it hard as each night was a rush to get tea ready and it was a pain if we wanted a weekend away. I found it hard too.
I often think extra income would be easier if you were single as its only yourself you have to be concerned with!! I wouldnt be single again for the world though!!!!!!!

I been a driver for over a year although money is better than when I started I also work a damn lot more than I use to, due to the shop being busy and I get paid £1 per order and 4 an hour. I have to maintain my own car and believe me it isn't cheap, I have spent about £350 this year alone on car, although some of it was from previous wear and tear.
I can clear for 4 hours £23-£25 and Weekends £35-£40 tops for 4 hours. It depends on how busy, I get about £8-£12 tips tops )sometime I get nowt like Sunday) and I can easily manage 40 miles a night. I reckon about 50/50 in tips sometimes its insulting when I get a measly 5p (keep the change) sometimes I let people off the odd amount as I cant be bothering waiting all day, time is money. I dont speed by the way, as I am careful about fuel economy
I have to pay out of my own pocket mobile costs (I have had the argument with the shop on who pays) as some people dont answer door or its multiple flats and no door bell. I try and ring customer first at the shop but I cant always do that
Believe me it isn't a easy job, and I often feel like packing it in but I need the money.
I sometimes get abuse at me, when orders are not right. I know they have a right to be angry but it is not my doing I just deliver.
If you do want a job like this, think carefully because believe me motoring costs are very high.
I do enjoy the job most of the time accept when people don't answer and I have to knock and knock or ring them which winds me up as I think why should I pay when they don't have a door bell?
Oh and I do chat to customers and some say how friendly I am I dont just do it for tips0 -
Hi Steve
I used to work at my local pub which was fab except that I used to drink there as well on my nights off. I guess the working paid for most of what I drank whilst I wasn't working! lol I left there after an argument with the landlady and worked at a social club for a few months. Unfortunately I ended up only earning around £4 per night after taking out the cost of taxi's there and back and the cost of the drink at the end of the night! I did enjoy that though.
As that job wasn't really paying off my debts I had to get a "proper" second job. I got a night shift job at the motorway services which were close by. I worked Friday/Saturday 11pm-7am and Saturday/Sunday 11pm-7am. It was very hard. On the Friday morning I'd get into work for 8am and finish as close to 4pm as possible, I'd get home around 5pm ish and go straight to bed. I'd wake at 10pm to get ready for the night shift. I was usually in bed then from around 7.30am on Saturday morning. I very often only saw a few hours of Saturday as I was always so knackered! But no matter how much I slept on Saturday by 7am on Sunday morning I always felt like I was dead on my feet and thus slept well on Sunday daytime. I tried not to sleep too long on Sunday because obviously I had to get my sleep pattern back to day-shift mode for my full time job on Monday. I did this for about 8 months but it started to affect my day job so had to give it up in the end.
I guess what I am trying to say to anyone thinking of doing a couple of night shifts at the weekend - it's hard. It's completely different to partying or clubbing all night at the weekend. Having said that, I would be prepared to do 1 night shift a week if it was a Friday night. At least that way you have a couple of nights to get yourself back into dayshift mode.
Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have better luck than me!
Good luck

I work evenings and weekends in a inbound call centre on customer services for a leading entertainment ticket sales company. The money isn't bad and there is always the oportunity to earn incentives for reaching targets and there is always over time available.0
