Hi there
I had a bit of bother with debt when i was slightly younger and had taken out a few loans. I have cleared all bar one in the last year which i am hoping to clear within the next 4 months(1,100 outstanding). I have just had a call from Rockwell who are collecting on behalf of client. They are wanting the money in full within thirty days which i have no hope of doing. They are talking about an Order charge Land being placed on my house. I want to clear it but thirty days is impossible. Are they able to place a charge on my house with the debt being unsecured?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I cannot believe they would bother with the cost of a land charge for only £1,100. Continue to pay them what you can reasonably afford.
If they continue to threaten you then go and get free advice from citizens advice or a debt charity.
Rockwell have probably been 'sold' the debt by the company you originally took out the loan with. They will be delighted that you plan to pay back the full amount within a few months.
Also don't be afraid to report them to the police for harrassment if they continue to hound you.
If you are sure you will be able to clear within 4 months, why not send them 4 post-dated cheques for £275 for each of your next 4 pay days and that might shut them up?
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

They can apply to the court to make a charging order.
However, if you can clear the debt within 4 months I think it highly unlikely that a judge will give such an order.0
