Well guys I have an interview tomorrow for an internal position and I am really nervous, not had an interview for about 8 years!!!!!!! If I get the job it should give me approx an extra £90 per month to throw at my debts so fingers crossed

Money doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful

Hi Poppy,
Congratulations on getting the interview. A little bit of nerves are a good thing but if they are starting to become disabling then do some preparation. In my current role I interview people regularly and there a number of things which tend to work for people.
1) Be there on time. The people who are interviewing you also have their normal job to do so don't want to waste time twiddling their thumbs.
2) Turn up smart, clean and not pongy - blindingly obvious. Also, make sure your shoes are spotless.
3) Listen to their questions and answer thoughtfully, thoroughly and honestly. The fact that you have got to the interview stage indicates that they think you probably have got the skills to do the job so they are looking for you to justify that view point. If you mislead them then you are likely to be caught out. I have kicked people out for doing this to me because I have to trust them.
4) Do your homework about what the job involves, what the company does etc. There are likely to be obvious questions like - why do you want this job, why do you want to leave your current job so make sure you have good diplomatic answers.
5) Be yourself. After all who else can you be!
I'm sure that there are many things I have forgotten (to much  ) but these are the main things.
Good luck

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine, I recently went for 2 interviews after not working for nearly 8 years, ( due to looking after children ) at least you've been working!!
I didn't get the first one:o , but got the second one:T , then started working at the second job & was offered the first job, as another position had become vacant ( I was 2nd choice - yippee:rolleyes: ), then through a friend was offered yet another job!! never been so in demand:rotfl:
I just was myself, I asked questions, I was enthusiastic, even though it's crap money!! & sold myself as much as my confidence ( or lack of it ) would let me.
I was extremely nervous, but in the end, all they can do is say no & maybe they may even say YES:T the very best of luck:AComping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

Thank you so much for all the good luck messages and the advice! I am really nervous, I know one of the people interviewing which in some ways makes it harder, I'm going to go bed soon so that I've got a nice clear head. Got to do a presentation which I prepared yesterday, that's the scariest part of it!!!!!!!
Will let you know how it goes
Congrats on the job offers kizzy and the new job, that sounds like a great start, hope some of that luck rubs off on meMoney doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful :beer:0 -
I have an interview next week as well but mine is slightly different though. Might be getting redundancy - not all bad as have been with my company for nearly 20 years so will get enough to pay off my debts and more. Will miss my mates though if it happens.
Seriously though, fingers crossed for you. Show them that you are the best person for the job. Good luck.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
