The current boyfriend was in work until January when he lost his job due to not notifying them of a holiday he was going on. Since then he hasn't worked he is trained in sport but he was labouring. I have asked him to cut down and only drink on saturdays but so far with no job he drinks around 4 or 5 times a week.

He [previous boyfriend] is unemployed and in debt by around 6 to 10k I don't know the exact figure. He says he cant afford to rent anywhere else.

You really know how to pick em, kelie!

Your financial problems seem to be caused by the losers you date. In order to sort out one problem you need to first sort out the other.

If I were you, I'd break up with the new bloke, he sounds like he needs a mother, not a girlfriend. He'll just drag you down just like your former boyfriend.

As far as your ex is concerned, go and see a solicitor to get all of this sorted out legally rather than messing about trying to do it yourself. Make sure he pays his half of the mortgage and other household bills, if he doesn't then document it so that you take away more of the equity to reflect the larger amount of money you put in.

    Thank you for your advice.

Not trying to justify the ex, but he wasn't in debt until we split up last October and we ran a business together of which I got the better half when we divided the clients.

I'm going to go to the CAB first, then solicitor as I can't really afford to pay one right now.

Other than that trying to save up as much money as possible at the moment. I'm going to cancel all my non necessities like DVD rental and weight watchers subscription for example and try out the MSE techniques to boost my income. I don't think i'll be able to get together 30 to 35k in a short time though.

    Hiya,

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Only one advice: Be careful when spending extra money on house!

One of my neighbours has put his house for sale in market for few months without any success. This neighbour has reduced price already 3 times by now and says no one has turned up to see the house.

    Best of luck
