Traffic Information Gadget Wanted

Hi all,
I recently bought myself a Snooper Syrius S600 satellite navigation system.
90% accurate in my opinion, then again I do know my way around.
Just one niggling problem, I decided to buy the one that didn't include traffic information, a saving of £70 and I am feeling a bit down about it as I kinda feel it would come in handy as my friend has bought a TomTom Go270 that has it and he swears by it's usefulness.
My gadget has a port for traffic information gadget but its manufacturers told me that the wire needed for it wouldn't work on it.
Can anybody confirm this for me having bought one for themselves? It's a TMC thing worth only a tenner.
Equally as handy, anybody know where I can get a GPS traffic information gadget?
I know my radio can tell me of any local traffic problems but these guys speak so fast, you can easily lose what they are talking about.
