Hi
I only sell on ebay the quality of stuff that I myself would want to receive. Im quite fussy about what I sell on there-any marks etc-they dont go on (unless designer but state in auction or if button is missing etc).
My dd's tops are fit only to be binned after she has had her wear out of them, but have helped in charity shops before and know they a small amount of money for bags of rags. So have a black bag in the garage and when its half full-which could take a while, OH drops it into the charity shop. I kind of live in pj's at the moment..lol. OH clothes are divided into the 3 sections. One is for working/decor/gardening etc-these are good quality clothes but marked/stained etc. Then theres a casual smart section-jeans, t-shirt, shirts, jumpers etc etc-all like new and looked after and washed properly. Last, he has a smart section-mens suits, trousers, jackets, shirts, ties etc. We dont go out much at all, so he mainly has his work clothes on or if he wants to tart himself up abit-his casual smart clothes. My clothes are pretty much the same-but only have 1 pair of scruff jeans that I wouldnt mind staining if working etc.

:rotfl: Some opticians take old spectacles to sent to third world countries. These are such a valuable gift to give-the gift of sight.
Our local civic amenity site(tip) sells furniture and sometimes im told it even goes to auction.
I always ask myself, before I donate-if this is what I wanted-would I consider it good enough to buy?
I donate jigsaws and videos to the local library and magazines in their Swap box-if your library doesnt have a swap box-why not suggest it to them?
Old ink cartridges, if they have not been refilled can be sold on ebay. I recently bought 4 empties myself to refil, for my hp psc 2179 and saved a fortune-Ive always got a spare refil waiting now!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
I wouldn't condemn profit-making collection companies en masse - a lot of them ship clothes out to the developing world to sell on cheaply. They cover their costs and do make a profit, but people in the receiving countries get cheap, reasonable quality clothes that they wouldn't otherwise have been able to own. I've seen piles of the things on sale in East Africa and the prices are affordable for people on very low incomes. I guess you could argue that it's damaging the local textiles industries but it's probably no worse than many aid programmes and at least it creates employment for local traders...0
