  • This looks exactly the same as the Hikona that Tesco were selling recently. If it is, it's a great machine and multiregion out of the box. The Tevion one is better, though, as it has teletext.

Didnt know Boots sold medium/larger electrical goods instore, maybe its only certain stores? I got one of these online a few months back for my daughter when they had them for £59.99 but only on the website, great unit, multi region dvd playback available as well. None on website now though. Just blown £99.99 on a Philips 14"+dvd (MR)for my place which is excellent but If Id known about the Boots offer I would have got one of those instead!

I thought £69.99 was a bargain but £59.99 online was a good price...It's probably better to ring customer services to find a TV.I was looking for a Freeview box instore to pay with points and they found me one in Leeds...I bought my TV/DVD from Doncaster..There was a pile of them near the till downstairs

If anyone gets the Aldi Tevion, I would be grateful if you could tell us if it's any good.

I bought the "Durabrand" branded £69-99 TV/DVD Combi from Asda yesterday..... and returned it today. The picture was quite good, but the operation was so infuriating, that I nearly threw it out the window:

    - When tuning, it would hang.
    - The DVD/TV button on the remote - which you would think switched between TV and DVD - did absolutely nothing or gave you a game of Tetris (I'm not kidding) - why?
    - In fact, a lot of buttons on the remote did absolutely nothing - including those numbered 1 - 9, which you would expect to be channels 1-9, but no.
    - other weirdness - including the inability to be able to turn it off and on using the remote.

When I took it back to Asda tonight, the lady in customer services said "I know why you are bringing this back ......" and cheerfully refunded my money.

Maybe, I just need to swallow the cost and buy the Philips. Can anybody recommend that or tell me where to get it the cheapest?

    Thanks,
    Woody.
