Can anyone beat the Abbey 5.47% 3-year fixed mortgage?

We're after a fixed mortgage and were hoping to go for the HSBC 5.39% 5-year fixed, but by the time we were able to finally get an appointment with HSBC it had been pulled.

Does anybody have any horror stories of Abbey? We have never banked with them.

I'm sorry, I can't find that rate quoted on their website.

Are you sure it's still available? Or is it a brand new product yet to be posted on their site?

Best offer I've had from Abbey is 5.83 fix for 3 years, £499 fee - had no problems with Abbey for the last 3 years, bit light on communication but otherwise they're fine.
4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.

Looks like 5.47% rate was withdrawn Friday morning! But I think Abbey will reserve it for us - which is better than what HSBC did - it was almost like they were trying to put us off altogether.

I wonder why, maybe it's because they have more potential customers than they can shake a stick at.

    I wonder why that is?

Abbey did charge 430 for a valuation survey - I'm now nervous about how much the full structural will be.
