Hi,
My partner and I both went bankrupt a month ago and have just had our ipa paperwork through, mine £50 and his £559, mine completely unexpected as only have £40 spare total a month and partners was much higher than expected seeing as all outgoings were ok'd by OR and now we will really struggle. Asked for breakdown for figures and the OR office was extremely unhelpful and wouldn't send one out.
My outgoings are soon to increase with rent increase and student loan payments, if this reduces it to no ipa does this mean when i am discharged i no longer have to inform them of details or does it still apply to 36 months of original ipa agreement?
Also my partner currently works away all week and really long hours to make ends meet, would the OR impose and BRO or similar if he were to change jobs to more local work and actually spend time with family as this wouls mean lower wages and less ipa. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts.
Finally, last thing are ther restrictions on going abroad to work when still undischarged imposed by the OR and how does it work with ipa etc
Sorry for the rambling, just sitting down going through all money stuff and having a really stresful day, any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks x

First off Hello
They should give you a break down of the figures in which they reached the IPA agreement,so ask again and say you willnot agree until you have them.
If they cancel your IPA and another is not in place at discharge, then as far as i know they can not start another. If they suspend it thats another ball game and yes they can restart it at any time in the 36 mths regardless of discharge.
I changed my job due to long hours(bc did this for me!)and i am on a much lower wage and i have just been put forward for early discharge so no they won't impose a bru/bro for that. The OR can not tell you who to work for.
As far as working abroad, sorry don't know but good luck.DFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

It's a pain going through all of the figures, but once you've done it, things will be a lot clearer. Once you've found out what the OR has & hasn't allowed, please post the details here so that we can tell you if they've included things they shouldn't have or reduced the amounts allowed unfairly.Hi,
My partner and I both went bankrupt a month ago and have just had our ipa paperwork through, mine £50 and his £559, mine completely unexpected as only have £40 spare total a month and partners was much higher than expected seeing as all outgoings were ok'd by OR and now we will really struggle. Asked for breakdown for figures and the OR office was extremely unhelpful and wouldn't send one out. Push them on it - if they refuse again, ring the switchboard & ask for the name & phone number of their manager, then contact their manager about it. It's sloppy, but when one person tells you something's "OK" or "fine" on the phone, the final assessment hasn't been done, & things could well change if your file goes to someone else to actually do the calculations, check what can be allowed & what can't, & do the final tally-up. You are entitled to know how they've arrived at the final figures - a lot of people on here have challenged an initial IPA because they've found out for instance that certain benefits were included as income when they shouldn't have been. You have the right to do the same thing.
My outgoings are soon to increase with rent increase and student loan payments, if this reduces it to no ipa does this mean when i am discharged i no longer have to inform them of details or does it still apply to 36 months of original ipa agreement? If a case is reassessed because of a change of circumstances, it may result in an IPA being reduced, suspended or cancelled altogether. If it's reduced or suspended, you'll have to let the OR know of any change in your circumstances for the period the IPA would have run, so that your case can be reassessed again. It's only if the IPA is cancelled completely that you don't have to tell them.
Also my partner currently works away all week and really long hours to make ends meet, would the OR impose and BRO or similar if he were to change jobs to more local work and actually spend time with family as this wouls mean lower wages and less ipa. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts. Your OH is entitled to change employment as he thinks fit. The OR can't tell him where to work, how much to work or how much to earn. Be aware though that the OR may be apply to the court to suspend a discharge if they think that the BR is deliberately acting in such a way as to avoid making payments eg by not declaring assets, or not giving the OR all the info they've asked for, & this may fall into the same category. I think I've seen something along those lines, so I'll keep looking for the link to it.
Finally, last thing are ther restrictions on going abroad to work when still undischarged imposed by the OR and how does it work with ipa etc I don't think there are any restrictions on where you work. You'd have to let the OR know where you are & provide them with full contact details, plus complete a new IPA questionnaire, & they'd take it from there.
Sorry for the rambling, just sitting down going through all money stuff and having a really stresful day, any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks x
