CCCS - adding new debts

I wonder if anybody has experience with adding newly made debts to existing ones with the CCCS.
I have been paying various debts with them since 2000 and due to a compulsive spending habit, have somehow managed to obtain another four credit cards. Finding it difficult now to keep up with the repayments and want to add them to my old debts with the CCCS. Yes, I know completely irresponsible, but I will deal with the emotional issue of compulsive spending - hopefully being part of this forum will help me!
Has anybody done this and what was the response of the CCCS?
Any commments much appreciated.

Hi susi and welcome.
I don't know too much about the CCCS and the main thing I'm doing right now is 'bumping up' your thread so someone more knowledgeable will come and help you.
One thing I could easily say though is.....please...for your sake and any loved ones you have, CUT up those cards before you get yourself into really terrible problems. Most of us, especially we women, have times when we could just spend...spend...spend, but the main thing you (we) need now is loads of self-discipline to STOP!
I do hope someone comes to give you some help, but if not I'll try to get in touch with a really great CCCS chap who so often helps people here.
All the very best and do cut up those cards - please.

Hi
My only advice is to be honest with CCCS and let them know that there is a psychological reason for the extra spending. From what I can gather, you have broken the t&c's of the DMP agreement that you signed back in 2000 but they will hopefully take your case as being with mitigating circumstances.
Keep us updated

hi,
ive had CCCS, they will let you add one debt on, i think if you have more they can boot you off plan. might be best to speak to them in person though. in the mean time, cut them CC's up, and ring them up to explain your struggling, usually they are sympathetic and may be able to offer token payment.

I think there was someone else here recently who spent on a credit card when he was on a DMP with the CCCS, but they told him that he had broken the terms of his agreement with them by taking on more credit while in a DMP, so they wouldn't help him any more. Sorry - hopefully I'm wrong and someone else can give you better news.0

This is what cccs told me too, sorry! To agree to our dmp hsbc tried to get us to take out a loan to consolidate our od and cc, at 12% APR for the next million years!I wasn't stupid enough to agree to this and called cccs to let them know what hsbc was asking us to do and they said if we had agreed to it, we would no longer have been able to keep our dmp with them, due to taking out more debt.
Maybe due to the circumstances they will allow you to add these debts but they do sound very strict about breaking t&c's. hth0 -
You have breached the T&Cs with CCCS and you may get booted off of their DMP, this doesn't definitely mean that other debt advice agencies won't help you though (only use not for profit ones though or your debt will carry on going up.) You do need to be completely honest with CCCS though as they are negotiating money on your behalf, they may still be able to help you with advice even if they can't run your DMP for you any more.
If any of your creditors were to do a check on your credit reference file then they would see the new debts and I am pretty sure that would be worse than being upfront now.
One thing you do need to realise though is that your creditors may not allow you to set up a new DMP (and if they do it this time there is a reduced chance they will do it in the future as they won't think you are taking it seriously). A DMP is set up based on what you can afford to give each creditor, many of them may take the financial hit of freezing interest for you so that you can pay them back the original debt, if you run up more debt then you will be servicing that debt new by paying other companies money each month that they will believe should have gone to them.
Please, please get some help with your spending. I was a compulsive spender but it was amazing how quickly I was able to break the habit and now have a very different outlook on money. (You can see what my debt was and is in my signature and ALL of that was run up through compulsively buying things - clothes, shoes, handbags, holidays - I did not make a single purchase above about £800 (holiday to Vegas) so there is no car or other big purchase in there) The first step is to try to understand why you spend, do you spend wen you feel down, is it because you lust for a lifestyle you can't afford, is it to keep up with friends, is it replacing something else, can you identify when it started.
Get your current problem sorted asap (the longer it rolls on the worse it will be) and carry on posting on here for support and advice, let us know a bit more about your situation and there will be plenty of help and experience that fellow DFWers are more than happy to share.
Good luck for sorting this all out, I look forward to seeing you on here again, take care£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

I have no advice re CCCS, but what I would recommend is seeking some form of help re your spending.
I'm not here to judge you, but have you spoken to your GP about it?
I know what it's like to have a compulsive disorder, I had one for over 20 years (not spending) eventually, I took the plunge and sought help, yes, it's a long road to over coming it, it took me close on 6 years, thankfully I am recovered now, (if that's the right saying) there are experts out there wiling to help, it's a question of YOU wanting the help.
Good luck.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
Just popping in to say that I think others may be right unfortunately in that you have broken the agreement and know from prev posters that they seem quite strict. You dont say how much you have overspent & whether there is any way you can salvage your position? Have you posted your SOA on here at all? It may help to see if there is a way out and that things can be sorted. Ca you ebay anything or make some extra money to pay stuff off? Lots of suggestions on here for making money...I have vague recollection that someone who did simular & was kicked off by cccs had some sucess with the other free agency but that was only after begging!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! I would expect any of your existing creditors under your current DMP to be very unhappy and pull out of the agreement and chase you very hard for the full amount of the debt, probably reinstating interest and even maybe claiming the interest that they had frozen.
Out of goodwill they previously proposed to freeze the interst and accept greatly reduced payments, shared with other criditors, based upon your spare income.
you are now asking them to accept even smaller payments due to your rash spending.
I'm sure there are people suffering from a clinical compulsive disorder with regards to spending , but are you sure it's not just a case of wanting the finer things in life.
you really need to cut up these cards maybe if you really can't trust yourself then default on one of the cards so you cannot obtain credit.
If you can get CCCS or another agency and most importantly your creditors to agree to another DMP, then it has to work for you as it could be your last chance.0
