weird lumps behind my ear

I keep getting these strange lumps behind my ears (both of them!)
Behind my right ear at the bottom I've had a lump there for over a week now, was painful at the beginning but now isn't but the lump is still there
Then today I've found another one in almost exactly the same place behind my left ear. Obviously I can't have a look to see what they look like but they feel hard and under the skin, there isn't (from what I can feel) a head on them. My dad had a look at the one on my right ear in the week and said it looked like a boil but wouldn't that have gone by now?? I've had them in the past too.
I'm not that bothered by them, more just curious about what they are!
