Administration fee and interest on mortgage

Hi to anyone out there,

To cut a long story short, over 10 yrs ago I split up with hubby, now divorced. He left me with all debts as the accounts were 'joint'. Anyhow I got on with paying them, first few months were very dodgy, struggled with mortgage got into £2k arrears. Barclays were very un-sympathic eventhough I kept them informed. So in the end the only way I could get them to understand was I went to court so that i could explain myself. It was agreed by judge that I would pay over the top of my monthly payment an extra £30. I have done so and havent defaulted.

I now pay an extra £50 a month over the top, but they take £40 for admin fee and £6.00+ for interest. I will never pay the arrears off at this rate.

I have six years left on mortgage but would like to see it cleared. I have equity at current on property just over 100k.

Anyone out there who can advise, I would love to get out of the clutches of Barclays, they have had their moneys' worth out of me.

Your only options are to pay the money or not. You may want it cleared but that means paying them. Maybe add another £10 or £20 to the monthly extra payment would help.

Banks are not charities. They have a requirement to make money so you shouldnt expect them to act charitable. They should act fairly but they are not going to gift you anything.
