Oh I'd love asda too, people in work talk about it all the time especially the kiddies clothing range!

Where is the empty space beside B&Q though?!

According to the local 'tabloids' it said B&Q have downsized (or going to)their own store so its actually part of their building.. maybe its not big enough for an Asda.. The Portadown Times said an announcement was meant to be made after Christmas but everyone is still in the dark. Suppose it will be M&S or something (like l can afford to do my weekly shop there!)

I dont think M&S will come to Craigavon as they've just opened in Armagh, so we in Craigavon are fairly central to the sprucefield, Armagh and Newry ones now

I'd love an Asda down here! My guess is it'll probably be something stupid like Toys r us or something warehousey lol must flick through the papers tomorrow

B&Q have been in talks for over a year now about halving their floor space and renting the rest to other companies. as far as I am aware they origionally offered the space to fast food outlets, some carpet retailers and would like to encourage supermarkets to bid too.

Hi everyone out there in our wee neck of the woods;) I would love to see an Asda store too. There is one on the Shore Road in Belfast but we were only at it once. They did not have a lot of clothing then only for children if i can remember rightly.
I can't believe the cost of food these days and it would be grand to have an Asda store nearby. I see in Lisburn here a new M&S food store has opened a few days ago. I could not afford to buy our food in there:eek: I am so chuffed to have this site, as i have learned so much from others here, and it is very addictive. :j

Hi, as far as i'm aware it is Menarys who will be going into the unit beside Next, around June.
  • hiyas im new here bt i had heard that it is a Harvey's furniture place that moving into the B&Q and also that the tesco's is moving out of the main Rushmere centre and moving across to a larger site beside the B&Q too. i used to work in the B&Q and was told that from the garden centre to the checkouts is the space that will remain as B&Q and the trade section will be moved to allow the new store!

Funny you should mention Tesco, a long time ago, (easily 5 years now,) I had heard they were moving out of Rushmere, and that Marlborough House was being knocked down, (tax office, housing executive etc) ...perhaps something to do with their lease in the shopping centre expiring, however when the new Tesco in the Meadows was built in 2001, and then subsequently the building of the new Tesco in Lurgan, I didn't think they could sustain such a large presence in so small a catchment area, so possibly a Tesco Metro could be put in place. I think I'm right in saying though that it is Turkingtons who own the land beside Halfords, though I'm not sure if it has been earmarked for retail.
