I think I've upset Karma.

This week... our washing machine has died... we were told we were getting a grant for a new laptop for my OU course... and then told we weren't... and now my laptop's cd drive won't open. We can't afford another one and I've got stress at home besides the stuff breaking but I just feel like I've upset karma or something as nothing is going right this week. I feel like crap emotionally and now this. I can't deal with it and just want to cry. :( I can't even install my OU disks now. :wall:

    Hope that helps!

Somewhere on the CD drive there should be a pin hole; stick a pin in this and the CD drive should open.

I know how you feel. In the past week, I've taken 3 steps forward and 12 steps back.
I could give you a laptop, unfortunately, it kinda belongs to PC World finance...but PAH! what's a credit agreement between fellow MSE DFWs?! LOL

Can you tell I've lost the plot?

i thought that, until i realised that it was just my house trying to kill me

within the space of 10 days, my washer, toaster, kettle, blew up, my stair carpet came away and i went sliding down them on my backside, then the legs fell off at the bottom of my bed cartoon style, i wouldnt mind but i was on my own and i only weigh9stone

dont sweat the small stuff honey, life has a funny way of correcting itself :D:D:D

    Oh hun, how horrible. :(

Firstly, sending you a hug, because I know you have been feeling really crap recently.

Secondly, from a practical point of view, do you know anyone who is a computer whizz who might have an external cd drive you could link up just to get the stuff installed? Or you might be able to pick one up for next to nothing, and the wires you need to connect it aren't that expensive.

Or can they be downloaded at all?

What about posting on the techie board to see if anyone can suggest a way to get it open, without damaging your laptop?

Edit - ahh, I see someone has already done that....it took me ages to type my post, sorry!

The week will eventually end and a new one will start and the new one HAS to be better than this week.

    FIrstly - DON'T PANIC

STOP - this is just a crappy time in what has been fab for you, by your own hard work. Sort out the problems individually, don't see them as a whole, work them thorough one-by-one, The IA who's diary I so enjoy CAN deal with this, just be calm and work each problem.

Good luck - you know you can do this
