Thanks everyone. I am going to stop buying brands, and I have got a notebook ready to take stock tomorrow. I am going to meal plan. I am going to aim to spend £350 on housekeeping in May. If I can do this it will mean I we can be debt free in about 7 months and then start some savings. You have inspired me. XX

Hi - Just to say thanks to everyone who helped me sort out my grocery shopping about 3 weeks ago.

I am very happy to report that after taking stock of my cupboards and freezer I have planned all of the meals - even puddings - and instead of spending about £130 per week, I have spent between £50 and £60.:j I have not wasted any food except about 10 grapes which were nearly walking by themselves ! I have not planned for 1 meal each week and used all the left over bits of veg and cooked it with rice or pasta.

I have been finding it difficult as I used to buy loads and throw quite alot away. Also been buying BOGOF, I got husband to put up shelf in garage to house any extra tins, household stuff etc.

I am hoping to get this lower with some extra thought and effort. Thanks again . X

I'm pretty good at meal planning, but one thing I need to do too is to do a freezer check! I'm sure there's loads in there I've forgotten about because I didn't plan to buy it in the first place!

Thats the stuff! Plus the stuff my mum hands me every time I leave her house - like four HM ham and turkey burgers and two trout fillets I've just remembered!
